Compact Shredder
Set up, power, run, and pack up the compact shredder.
The compact set is four items: shredder_compact, shredder_generator, shredder_cable, and shredder_box. Players set them up wherever there is level ground, indoors or out. Disable the set with compact.enabled = false.
Compared with the scrapyard shredder, the compact shredder takes one part at a time, shreds compact.shredTimeMultiplier times slower, and only accepts the parts whose recipe allows it. It overheats and jams sooner, and its generator holds and burns far less diesel.
#Set Up
Use an item, aim at the ground, and turn the preview with the scroll wheel. Press Enter or left-click to confirm, or Backspace or right-click to cancel. The prop stands after placement.setupSeconds.
A spot must be within placement.maxDistance, no steeper than placement.maxSlope, and clear of other props. Each character can have placement.maxPerPlayer of each kind set up at once.
#Catch Crate
Set the crate down within dockDistance of the shredder's outlet and it snaps into place and docks. The shredder takes nothing without a docked crate. A part only goes in while the crate has room for the most it can give; an empty crate takes any part.
#Power Cable
Use a shredder_cable to take it out, coiled in your right hand. At the generator's socket, choose Plug in a cable, which leaves the other end in your hand. Carry it to the shredder and choose Plug the cable in at its inlet.
The cable leaves your inventory once it is plugged into the shredder. Pull the cable out at either end gives it to whoever pulled it. It reaches cable.maxLength; carrying it further puts it back. Use the item again or press X to put the coil or the carried end away.
Carrying the cable puts away a drawn weapon or diesel can, and attacking and aiming wait until it is plugged in or put back. With cable.item = false, every generator has a cable of its own and the option reads Take the cable.
#Run
Fill the generator from a diesel_can and start it at its switch. Then start the shredder at its control panel. The shredder only runs while plugged into a running generator, and it stops when the power is lost.
The generator burns diesel for as long as it runs, whether the shredder does or not. Check its fuel gauge to see the tank level.
#Load Parts
Use the hopper and pick a part. It lists every item you carry that fits the compact shredder. The part slides down the ramp into the cutters, and the next one can go in once it is through.
The clipboard on the shredder opens the recipe book. See Compact Shredder for how a recipe is allowed in the compact shredder.
#Collect
Use the crate to take one kind of scrap or everything. With box.shared = false, each character collects only their own scrap.
#Pack Up
Pack up returns the item after placement.packSeconds. A prop must have stood for placement.pickupDelaySeconds, and by default only the character who set it up may pack it up.
The shredder must be stopped, empty, unplugged, and not overheated. The generator must be stopped and unplugged, and the crate must be empty. The generator keeps its diesel in the item by default; see placement.fuelOnPickup.
#Fumes
A portable generator running indoors fills the room with exhaust. The level rises while it runs and falls while it is off.
| Stage | Default level | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Haze | 25 | Smoke hangs around the generator. |
| Cough | 50 | Players within fumes.radius cough and their view dims. |
| Damage | 75 | Players within fumes.radius lose health. |
| Stall | 100 | The engine chokes and cannot start until the level is under fumes.restartBelow. |
A prop counts as indoors when it is set up inside an interior, or in any routing bucket other than 0 with fumes.bucketsAreIndoors. Outdoors, nothing builds up. Disable fumes with fumes.enabled = false.
#Access & Instances
compact.access decides who may load, operate, collect from, refuel, link, and pack up a prop someone else set up. Everything is open to anyone by default, except packing up. Admins with compact.admin.permission always may.
Each prop belongs to the routing bucket it was set up in. Only players in that bucket see it, hear it, use it, or are hurt by its fumes.
For jobs, gangs, keys, housing that reassigns bucket numbers, or shells that are not game interiors, edit the Can-Check Hooks.
See Compact Set for every compact setting.
