Working a Lift
Set the arms under a car, and raise and lower the lift.
Each lift has an interaction marker on both carriages and on the power unit on the right post. Aim at a marker and press E. With interaction = "target", Set Lift Arms is offered on the car and Work the Lift on the power unit instead.
Only one player can work a lift's power unit or set its arms at a time.
#Set the Arms
- Lower the lift all the way down, with every arm parked against its post.
- Drive the car in between the posts, square to them, and get out. The car must be empty and standing still.
- Aim at the marker on either carriage and select Set Lift Arms. The view moves above the corner, with a ring marking its jacking point.
- Hold the left mouse button on the pad and drag it to the ring. The pad drops into place once it is near, and comes off again when pulled well away.
- Press A or D to move to the next corner, and set all four pads.
- Press Esc to leave. A notification confirms when all four pads are under the car.
Your character walks around the posts and the car between corners. Moving the car afterwards takes the pads out from under it.
#Raise & Lower
Aim at the marker on the power unit and select Work the Lift.
- Hold E to raise or Q to lower. The carriages stop at the next stop by themselves.
- Press W to send them all the way up, or S all the way down, without holding a key. Press Space to stop them.
- Letting go of E or Q between two stops brings the carriages down onto the lock below.
- Press Esc to leave. Carriages sent all the way keep going.
A car on the pads stops at low, waist, and high on the way up and down; see Resource Description. Back at the bottom, the car stands on its wheels and is released.
A lift only goes up with all four pads under the car, or empty with every arm parked. Another resource can also refuse to raise or lower a lift, or hold a car no lower than a given stop, with its own message.
